Mark Simmonds MP on migrant workers

Mark Simmonds MP for Boston & Skegness having rushed 'back to his home in Lincolnshire'(where?) according to his interview on BBC Radio Lincolnshire, on Thursday night made all the right soundbites for the camera.
Remember this one Mark?
"There is a necessity for economic migrants in Lincolnshire.
They are thrifty and hard working people"
Spoken in Skegness on 28th April 2005
But I guess there are not that many migrant workers living in the wealthy parts of Wandsworth.

Mark Simmonds MP "We need these people"

Sorry Mark but immigration figures 'speak for themselves'

New figures released by the Office for National Statistics in May 2011 show immigration to the UK is rising by 45% - this clearly demonstrates that the Government has lost control on this vital issue.

"This blows a massive hole under the waterline of this Government's claims." said Gerard Batten MEP, UKIP Immigration spokesman.

He added: "These figures speak for themselves. Once again we see that mass uncontrolled immigration, which is what we have from other EU member states, brings zero benefit to the UK economy. It drives down wages, increases property prices and damages most those at the lower end of the economic ladder.

"The Prime Minister and his Government have got to be kidding it they think that anybody will believe him or his ministers on this issue.

"The people of Britain have never been asked if they wanted mass migration to this country. Our finances cannot cope and our services cannot support these numbers. With austerity at home the simple fact is that we cannot continue like this.

"There is nothing we can do about the tens of thousands arriving from Eastern Europe, people who the great and the good had told us were in fact leaving. They might have done, but they are back now, and are driving British people into penury.

"Until we leave the EU, we cannot get a grip on mass migration."
